Wildebeest Migration in Maasai Mara National Reserve

Kenya is known for its endless plains of Maasai Mara and numerous wildlife and it is here where the word safari begins. This Kenya Uganda Safari will give you the best of both countries in the limited time. It starts from Kenya and ends in Uganda.

Day one begins with your arrive in Nairobi where you will be welcomed by our driver guide and be briefed on the trip programme then later be transferred to your preferred lodge for overnight and resting as well as dinner.

Day two is for transfer to Maasai Mara. You will be met and picked up our drive guide from your hotel in Nairobi.  The driver guide will then start you on your journey to Masai Mara national reserve.

The journey is by road and will take you through the vast landscape and nature of Kenya. On arrival at your lodge you will be warmly welcomed with a fresh glass of juice and have lunch. After a delicious lunch head for an evening game drive before your dinner.

Take full day drives on day three and four. Breakfast in the morning will prepare you for a full day of game viewing in the famous Masai Mara National reserve. You will carry packed lunch from the lodge and then head out in to the reserve for a whole day of spectacular game viewing.

Look out for wildlife – big herds of lions, leopards, elephants, the elusive cheetah, Thomson’s gazelle, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, topi, spotted hyenas, zebras, baboons and the graceful giraffes. Your day will end in the evening as you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner.

World famous for hosting the epic great migration, the Masai Mara welcomes 1,5 million wildebeests onto its sprawling Savannah each July through October. The Masai Mara National Reserve and conservancies are brimming with life and offer safari travelers a wide variety of activities to choose from.

Whether you take to the skies for a high-flying hot-air balloon adventure at sunrise or hit the road for a 4×4 safari, you’re sure to leave the Masai Mara with unforgettable experiences and life changing memories.

Transfer to Entebbe on day five.  After breakfast, you will transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe via Kisumu for immigration. This flight is in a smaller aircraft and helps us avoid the travel via Nairobi.

On arrival in Entebbe depending on time, you can connect directly to Bwindi impenetrable national park or overnight in Entebbe and transfer the next day.

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on day six. Your day will start with an early breakfast and you will embark on your gorilla safari southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

The journey will offer you highway sights of rural and semi-urban Uganda with several fruit and vegetable markets along the roads, craft and drum makers and a stop at Uganda’s Equator monument where you will cross to the southern hemispheres.

After the experience at the Equator, the drive will continue with a stopover in Mbarara for lunch before proceeding to Bwindi with short bathroom stopovers and picture sessions of landscape and other attractions.

Go Gorilla trekking on day seven. Very early in the morning, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transfer you to the briefing point at 7am before you start your gorilla trek at 8 am. On arrival at the briefing place, you will be welcomed and given seats until time of briefing as your driver guide registers you with the ranger on duty to be allocated a gorilla family. You will eventually meet your ranger guide and start your gorilla trek in the jungles of Bwindi.

Head to the forest accompanied by guides and rangers as you begin you search for gorillas. In the forest, you may see monkey species, butterfly species, mammals and so much more. Sometimes the forest is challenging and a good level of fitness will be required. At the end of the day, expect to be muddy and sweaty.

Once you see the gorillas, it’s okay to take photos with your camera or iPhone but avoid flash or else the gorillas might charge. You will spend between 40 minutes and 1 hour in company of these gentle giants. It will be such a life changing experience. Back to your lodge for your rest and overnight.

Transfer back to Entebbe on day eight after an early breakfast. This makes it the end of your trip. Take a rest and lunch at the equator. Take more photos if interested then head to Entebbe for your flight.
